Hearing From God: Day 37 – Diligent

It’s funny sometimes how God works. Last night, He placed in my spirit the word diligent. When something like this happens we naturally gravitate to “default scriptures”. The one that came time mind was, Hebrews 11:6 KJV
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

While this is a wonderful scripture, this is not where I was led. Instead,I was sent to 2 John 1. I have read this scripture in the past, but never have I read it like I did today. Verse 8 of this chapter in the New Living Translation says this: “Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked so hard to achieve. Be diligent so that you receive your full reward.”

When you consider the background of this passage, it falls right in line with the Hearing From God journey. When you read around this verse, you’ll find that John is writing about false prophets. There are so many that preach and proclaim contrary to the actual Word of God. John was urging us to stay on top of what we have been taught. In doing so, it is our responsibility to weigh everything thing against the Word of God. If it does not line up, do not hold on to it. We have to be careful as well, people (under the authority of Satan) are very crafty, and have the ability to make things sound good. Giving watered down truths, that are actually lies that can be devastating to our souls.

Grow constantly in God’s Word. Pray about all teachings that are received. If it fails to be in perfect communion with the Word of God, have no relations with it. Our reward comes from being diligent. Let’s get the full reward that God desires.

Love you, be blessed!
