Turn it around, Lord! We hear this often. God can and will do this. However, there are some instances when we are charged to do it ourselves. I can hear people saying, “But we can’t do anything without God.” This is true. Still, it is also true that we know the Word of God!
Deuteronomy 30:19-20 NLT
“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! You can make this choice by loving the lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life. And if you love and obey the lord , you will live long in the land the lord swore to give your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
Where are you going with this Art? I’ll tell you. To get a good handle on this one has to do a little more reading, though I can’t put it all in here. But if you go back to Deuteronomy 28, one can read the blessings for obedience, and the curses of disobedience. Chapter 29 reviews the covenant with the people of Israel. Finally chapter 30, God, with His all knowing self gives us authority over our destiny.
With the fore-knowledge that man would fail, He gave us a way to get back. He says in Deuteronomy 30:2-3 NLT
If at that time you and your children return to the lord your God, and if you obey with all your heart and all your soul all the commands I have given you today, then the lord your God will restore your fortunes. He will have mercy on you and gather you back from all the nations where he has scattered you.
Much of the hardship that we fall into, we do because of our disobedience. When situations get bad, we cry out, “Lord turn it around!” Despite the fact that we haven’t turned away from what placed us in that state in the first place. God is will and able. But before He acts, oft times we must act first.
When we act first to correct, the Word says in Deuteronomy 30:6 NLT
“The lord your God will change your heart and the hearts of all your descendants, so that you will love him with all your heart and soul and so you may live!
Lastly, Deuteronomy 29:9 NLT
“Therefore, obey the terms of this covenant so that you will prosper in everything you do.
Our destiny is in our own hands. Choose life, turn away from death.
Love you, be blessed!
