When my wife and I first got together, a phrase that I found myself saying often is, “I’m not big on miscellaneous words.” My point in this expression is that, if I said it, I meant it. I’m not going to waste your time or mine speaking just for the sake of speaking. Words should be used for a positive purpose.
As an writer, I LOVE words in any form of expression. It makes my skin crawl when words are not used in a purposeful manner. This made me wonder, if I feel like this, how does it make the Creator (God) feel. Matthew 12:36 NLT says, “And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak.”
This passage allows me to see that He is not very found of it either. We will give an account for every word spoken. With this understanding, we all should become more cautious with the words that we speak. Proverbs 18:21 NLT says, “The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.
In this journey, in the manner that I choose to capture this journey, it has become even more evident that we all are to be mindful of what we speak. Let’s use our gift of speech to build one another up. Let’s show compassion with our words. Let’s speak life and blessings into those around us and then share in what those words created. Besides, God did create the world with words!
Love you, be blessed!
