The Fight

Oft times, we spend years or what seems like years, dwelling in a place of no progression. To a dreamer, or to a person with purpose, being stagnant is not a suitable option. We can only stay in the state of no progression for so long before a definitive action must be taken. This is exactly where Jacob was in Genesis 32.

It says in Genesis 32:24-28 NLT, “This left Jacob all alone in the camp, and a man came and wrestled with him until the dawn began to break. When the man saw that he would not win the match, he touched Jacob’s hip and wrenched it out of its socket. Then the man said, “Let me go, for the dawn is breaking!” But Jacob said, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.” “What is your name?” the man asked. He replied, “Jacob.” “Your name will no longer be Jacob,” the man told him. “From now on you will be called Israel, because you have fought with God and with men and have won.”

Now, there is a lot of background info, that I won’t be able to get into. However, there are two quick points that I will touch on. If you find your self in a state of no progression, the first thing you must do is check your past. We must make sure that we have reconcile all relationships and/or broken commitments. In order to move forward, we have to get all of our affairs in right standings. This is exactly what Jacob had to do in Genesis 32:3-21. He had to correct his wrongs, which often has a cost associated with it.

Secondly, there comes a time when fighting is inevitable. Just as Jacob did with the angel, we have to fight with determination. I’m not giving up, I’m not letting go, I am getting mine’s, and I am getting it now! We have to fight and hold on to the point the our opponent is pleading to let go!

There are battles that we have to fight. Still, in doing God give us assurance of two things. 1. You will win. 2. You are not fighting alone. Let take claim of our destiny by breaking down the walls to prohibits our progression.

Love you, be blessed!
