Make History

We spend a lot of time perusing social media and other  outlets watching others make history.   But the time for watching is over.  It’s time for doing.  Everything that we want out of life is contingent upon the actions that we take.  It’s time to put our gifts and dreams into motion.  It’s time for us to be the history makers.  Why?  Because someone’s future depends on it.  Don’t let the future down because you choose to spectate rather than participate.  Make a difference!

It’s personal!  Don’t like where you are?  Do something about it.  Don’t like what you’ve been receiving?  Do something about it.   In life we will at some point find ourselves in a undesirable position.  We can either do something different that will move us beyond, or we can do nothing and remain.  But if you choose to do nothing, there is no room for you to complain.  At the end of the day, if nothing changes, nothing will change.  You are the force that gives life to whatever you desire.  No one can do that for you.  It’s personal.  Work for what you want.  Your reward will be equivalent to your effort.

My Intent

This is not my typical post, though it is quite possible that more is to come.  The phrase, “Not my intent“, baffles me. It seems to me, that phrase is desired to be a sincere apology.   It seems that the user of this phrase would like things to be just the same as they were before whatever situation occurred.  Keep in mind, I too am guilty of using this phrase.

What I’ve learned through the years is, merely saying, “That wasn’t my intent”, doesn’t remove the damage.  That phrase doesn’t wipe away the hurt.  This phrase doesn’t act like the memory eraser from The Men In Black.  No, there consequences that we face from our words and actions.  Allowing people to feel and work through their pain is one of them.

It is unfair to expect one to instantly move on because it wasn’t your intent.  We’ve all dealt with hurt.  We’ve all heard of another’s intent.  We’ve all stated, “Though that wasn’t your intent, the reality is…”.

The truth of the matter is, words hurt.  The truth of the matter is, actions hurt.  The truth of the matter is, recovery time will be needed.  The truth of the matter is, you may or may not be forgiven.  The truth of the matter is, the relationship may never be the same.  The truth of the matter is, you have no say in how and or how long someone deals with your inflicted pain.

We must be mindful of the words we speak.  We have to be mindful of the actions we take.  There is a cost for everything.  Can you afford it?

You

time01(Image found in Google search.)

We have long days, long nights, and long weeks.  We go out of our way to ensure that everyone’s needs are met.  And in all of our goings, we oft times neglect self.  We can’t effectively cater to others without first taking time to cater to ourselves.  I encourage all to set aside time for you.  Doing something that’s for you.  Do something that empowers you.  Do something that will refresh you.  This is not a selfish act.  We can’t help to lead others on the path to wholeness, when we lack.  Do something that will put a genuine smile on your face!

Mediocre Or Extraordinary? You Choose.

im-ready01(Image found in Google search)

According to Dictionary.com, Mediocre has two definitions.  1. Of only ordinary or moderate quality; neither good nor bad; barely adequate: 2. Not satisfactory; poor; inferior.  Never let anything in your life be associated with this unflattering descriptive.  Instead, let our life, our work, our attitudes, and our actions be categorized as extraordinary.  Which is defined as, exceptional in character, amount, extent, degree, etc.; noteworthy; remarkable.  We all have a choice as to what we are known for.  My preference is extraordinarily awesome.  What is yours?

Many Have…So That We May…!

havemay01

Everything that we have comes at a cost.  The fact that we personally didn’t pay it, only means that someone else did.  We are indebted to those who have paved the way.  Our only way to return their investment is to pay it forward.  It’s far beyond a right or a privilege.  It is a responsibility to utilize the gifts given to us.  We should never neglect the sacrifice of others.  Many have… so that we may…!  You can fill in the blanks however you see fit, as long as you never forget.
